Play all the Way

Alicia (Lissy) Leonard

Welcome to Play all the Way, where I provide child centred play therapy to children and teens, alongside support for siblings, parents, and carers.

What is Play Therapy?

Child-Centred Play Therapy (non-directive) is a theoretically and evidenced based approach to counselling, that builds upon the normal communicative and learning processes of your child.

Children aren’t often developmentally ready, or able to verbally communicate their thoughts and feelings, particularly in relation to situations or experiences that are tricky and troubling for them. Play Therapy, in my non-clinical setting, will provide your child with a safe, educational, and confidential space to express and ‘play out’ their challenges - in a way that is more natural to them - through PLAY. In play therapy toys become the child’s words and play their language.

Healing socially and emotionally, through play, will support your child to:

●      Develop a more positive sense of self

●      Assume greater self-responsibility for behaviours and actions

●      Develop new and creative solutions to problems

●      Learn to understand, experience, and safely express emotions

●      Develop respect and acceptance of self and others

●      Learn new social and relational skills to interact positively with family and peers

●      Develop empathy and respect for self and others

●      Engage in self-determined decision making

●      Become sensitive to the process of coping and self-regulating
